Research into possible A2 practical.

" A promotion package for a new computer/video game, to include two TV advertisements, together with two of the three options: The cover of the games package, Two hyperlinked pages from the games website, a magazine advertisement for the game."

My idea for this brief is to have a on road/off road driving game, as this is my favourite type of game to play.
As there are loads of games in this type of field it will need to be unique.

Off road games:
Motorstorm , Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Motorstorm Arctic Edge, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Mx Vs Atv, Dirt, Pure
These games all offer something unique, be it different locations that the gamer could never experience in real life or curtain types of off road vehicles.

On road games:
Burnout, featuring the seven games, Need For Speed, Grand Turismo 1,2,3,4,5, Split Second

These games are all featured on the road, they again other something different, Like a vast range of cars, speed, crashes, modifications or realism.

I thinking of possibly linking the two types or going down a different route.

An idea for the advert is to use my dads off road remote car and film in the woods with it jumping with some weird angles. then using stop motion to have the driver (little action man figure) to stand  by. I also want to include the style of which the current death race was filmed in, using the style of the cars and the type of action but without the killing.
After having a problem with the car it will hopefully be fixed and will be ready to have a run around with the camera.

Games package examples.
The covers are the main selling point when you are in the shop or purchasing on the Internet, as this is the first thing you will see. This means that the cover will have to be the best that I can producea nd will have to improve my Photoshop skills using tutorials.
I really like the covers from Motorstorm and Burnout, So I will be aiming for something like this. The Playstation 3 logo will be included along with the ratings.

Rotoscoping

"Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film movement, frame by frame, for use in animated films. Originally, recorded live-action film images were projected onto a frosted glass panel and re-drawn by an animator. This projection equipment is called a rotoscope, although this device has been replaced by computers in recent years. In the visual effects industry, the term rotoscoping refers to the technique of manually creating a matte for an element on a live-action plate so it may be composited over another background. " Wikipedia's information.

Rotoscoping is used in the music video that I have chosen to repoduce and many others, e.g. Queens of the stone age - Go with The Flow and A-ha - Take On Me.

It is also used in many other media fields, Film, games and TV.
Its is also used in Borderlands, which is a game.

My animatic of Shoot the runner.

A2 media animatic Shoot the runner, Kasabian from Daniel Knights on Vimeo.

Here is the final edit of my animatic. A basic draw out of what is needed and the type of shots that I will come across when filming or animating. The minute starts at 1:38-2:38, I chose this time point as it has a full range of animation, from paint explosions to oinion skining methods.

This is the original full Video.

First A2 short task.

We have been given the task to recreate a 1 minute part of a favourite music video/song. I have choosen this song by Kasabian, Shoot the runner. Information on the video.  We have also been given a task to lip sync the video.
This video has been made using rotoscoping, one of the Ideas that I did have is to cut out people or the kasabian band to recreate the video using another form of rotoscoping.
