Photography, Location and light trail tests.

Had a visit down to mousehold to take some location shots. Here are the result:
All the shots of the woodland area are of the height the 3rd person view would be. I will go down again to get the view of 1st person and what they would see.
I took this shot to resemble speed, as the edges are blurred, this was done by zooming in while the shutter speed was at 1.5 seconds. The trees frame the image to make it look enclosed and emphases speed
This Shows a possible area for stunt runs or multiple paths in a map.
Along speed straight, designed for speed but with a sharp turn at the end for braking skill.
The muddy section will test the type for car you choose.
So this is based on the skill level and experience you have had with the cars.

Also had a test at light trails with increasing the shutter speed to 2 seconds. I'm happy with the results but they are blurry, next time I'm bring a tripod. Also tested many frames at slow shutter speed to create a video.

Tony Hawk shred advert.

This advert uses the fact and the motion of what you could experience with the board in real life as it shows the house moving though the front windows.
This makes you duck and move about on your seat as you think the house is moving.

Using Tony Hawks at the end will give you the feel of being Hawk's and at his skill level of skate-boarding.
This also boosts his game, as all of his previous games has featured him in the advert. This show that he is the star of the game, he has made the game, not a company behind doors.

The target audience would be boarders or people that can't skate but would want to. Also people that inspire to be tony to see his moves.

Light trails in video

I liked the technique of light trails in pictures and how it shows life in the darkest of places, so I wanted to see if I could use this in my film but with videos instead. I found this video on Flickr which uses this technique. Its not exactly what I'm looking for as I just wanted the lights but I can still use this.

After looking at comments, he achieved this by taking photos at the rate of 5fps, for a long time. I will be using this technique for my film or adverts.
This was done in a mid to dark location on the top of a bridge. This is how the light trails have been produced as the camera picks up the light. You would struggle to get anything in the light.
I really like the idea of how this is done, I have tried it out but with out a tripod, This is one thing I will bring to produce one of the adverts.

Monster 2010

http://www.monstersthemovie.com/

Entire film made from a handful of people and one camera. Director Gareth Edwards Started with no backing from a big Hollywood budged, just the money he got from working with the BBC.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00c74sl
This interview Edward's takes about his start up.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00w5kt4
Take a look at the full story at 25:25 on how he made it. He also takes about lens and how he thinks that focusing on one part of the screen is better than all in focus.

I like his view on how the audience should be attracted to a spot in the shot, He uses the evidence that a fully clear background and shot with confuse the audience and with miss curtain parts. So he uses a lens on this camera to make curtain parts of the shot in focus and out of focus. He shows how he made this effect in the interview.

He was able to produce the Qulity of the CGI becuase he worked int eh BBC's CGI department, This set him up with the very basic's needed for the film.

PIXELS by PATRICK JEAN

PIXELS by PATRICK JEAN.
Uploaded by onemoreprod. - Discover more animation and arts videos.
New York invasion by 8-bits creatures !
PIXELS is Patrick Jean' latest short film, shot on location in New York.

Written, directed by : Patrick Jean
Director of Photography : Matias Boucard

I love this short video, its been around for 7 months and has got quite a liking.
I like how its animated and how things change into pixels as they get destroyed.
This would've been created using effects and editing after the filming. This would've required skill in filming and in the editing to put off the quality of his film.

I really like the use of Brake Out, to destroy the bridge, This uses of old and new combined, to say that the past still has an effect on how and the way we live in the most modern of city's.
The combination of Tetris and Pac Man also to combine with the game play of getting lines (Floors in the tower block) and eating dots (subway stations)Represents how some people can relate shapes and designs to games and media.
This video will be targeted at many many people as the use of arcade games with the aspect of Pixel monsters taking over the world hits the old and young people, this is how this video has done so well, the mirage of the two aspects involves generations.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs

This theory can be linked to help advertising in media.
A blog post on how media can be linked to the many stages of Maslow's theory.
This website is very good at describing how these adverts have used the 5 levels.
I will be looking at this to see how I could improve the adverts I product for the game.

This is a revised table showing Maslow's table but againsted the Social media table that someone has produced.

Xbox adverts

I do like the consept of some Xbox adverts. They tend to not feature the product untill the end. This then creates a sence for what it is being advertised. also showing the fun that can be had and the sillyness of how you look but it doesn't matter because these people are doing it on tv.

Car trouble!

At the moment the nitro RC car I will be using to film the advert and use in the media texts has broken down. "Flying point racing probe 2000".
This is due to many reasons;
  1. It is very old by about 20 years. Which is alot in the RC car manufactures.
  2. The nitro fuel I bought at 16% nitro was too much, burning out the clutch and the engine off revv's too much. It is used to 5%.
  3. When I tested it in the summer holidays, which was when the clutch went. It flipped, maybe damaging the engine and it hit the ground at a funny angle.
  4. Now the engine isn't tuned to the nitro fuel so it over revvs and stalls as it trys to move with out controling it.
At the minute it is trying to be fixed. The hard part is that the company that made it doesn't exist anymore. Meaning nor do the spare parts.
I do have a back up plan which doesn't mean filming the car moving, Which I can use if it doesn't get fixed.

This is to have the car still, With the background moving behind it, With single shots of different terrain, like a spinning wheel of pictures.
This will still advertise the game as to show what you can expect in the game its self.

On a sidenote..

In my spare time I volunteer For the Whitwell and Reepham station, This is a group that has come together to restore a station.

I do many tasks for the group, one is making video updates on YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/user/WhitwellandReepham
I take, edit and upload the video as well as advertise it in many railway related places.

This has helped me to learn the basics of editing and uploading to the Internet. Taking the photo's I have learnt to get the most out of the picture to document the Changes and new arrivals.
I use the editing program Magix pro 12, Which me and a friend won from coming first place in a short clay mation video contest. I find this very easy to use and it is enabled to upload straight to YouTube from saving. As I am used to this program Its possible that I will use it to edit my adverts.

http://hellesdonandcitystation.webs.com/

I also set up a free website for another project I'm involved in, Me and a group of friends are planning on cleaning up two old stations as they have reached a point where you cant see thin in the under growth. This was set up to advertise and bog updates on the project in junction to our flickr group.

This free website site was very easy to use and create. I did set up with another free website, moonfruit.com but I found this to confusing for a first time Weber.

Time is a crucial thing as editing and editing videos can take up a lot of time. This has helped me gain alot of experience in time keeping with this sort of thing.
